Our eBooks, documents and online services which are DRM-protected are intended for use with Windows, Adobe Acrobat, a current browser and the FileOpen plug-ins.

We do not guarantee the correctness of the following information: FileOpen also offers versions of its plug-in for other operating systems at http://plugin.fileopen.com/all.aspx. Please follow the instructions given by FileOpen for installation. We do not support Linux systems.

Some publishers of the standards and technical rules we sell protect their documents against unlawful reproduction using Digital Rights Management (DRM).

This includes documents published by ASME, AWS, ABNT, API, CSA, IPC and some of our eBooks.

The following applies to DMR-protected documents:

  • To open such documents you need to have installed the FileOpen plug-in for Adobe Acrobat Reader - see installation instructions below.
  • Careful! When you open a document for the first time at a certain PC you will only be able to read that document at that same PC from then on.
     Exception: eBooks can be opened on two work stations (PCs).
  • If you get a new computer, contact international@beuth.de and we will reset the DRM protection.
  • Please make sure that when you first open a document you are connected to the internet.
  • After that you will be able to use the document offline.
  • The print function is not restricted for protected documents.
     Exception: Documents published by the American Welding Society (AWS), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Association Connecting Electronics Industries (IPC) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
