A draft standard is a provisional result of the work of a DIN working committee. As a rule, the public has a period of 4 months for comments, and at least 2 months (60 days).

  • The exact deadline is on the title page of the draft.
  • To make comments go to the Draft Standards Portal (in German only).
  • Application warning note: A draft standard is also a valid document. The application warning note is intended to make clear that the content of the draft standard may differ from that of the final standard (changes possible).

With the publication of the new, valid final version, the draft standard and the final version valid until then are withdrawn.

When a European Standard is adopted into the body of German Standards, the National Foreword provides additional, useful information such as the start of application and any transition periods.
